thats incorrect actually.
the new slims drive are write ptotected so while you can read the key you cant write back to the chip the custem firmware. So you have to replace the pcb with a unlocked pcb to enable you to use custom firmware on your slim 360

so ur saying u been flashing since the xbox 360 life span has been out and dont know that ur actually flashing the firmware on to a pcb board,
Almost all the information is this thread is false. Prime example of noobs helping noobs.
The x360key is a drive emulator and will WORK on all slim drives. It doesn't even write to the drive but emulates what it does. So it will work, but won't be safe on xbox live (at least at first).
Second, the new PCB is only for drive 0225 and higher. This is a custom PCB that will allow you to flash and run on xbox live. This is a no solder solution also and should be much cheaper then the x360key.
the chap that is going to do it for me( THE PCB ) says there is no firmware for 0225 is this right so do i have to wait or is there something else i can do
any info on the XODE it will be cheaper than the X360KEY and easier to use

u would have to extract the key from 0225 drive then load it up with the new pcb, write and waaahla play your back ups
