Wal-Mart has it for $150CAD for Saturday and Sunday in Canada so I might buy it. Question: What kind of board does it have? Is the whole RROD solved now or does it still occur? Should I buy a different bundle pack?

Speaking from personal expersince, my wife recently picked me up my first XBox 360. It was the arcade model with 512 meg internal RAM and it was a Jasper. Jaspers are less prone to RRoD but they can still die. One reason (ONLY reason?) I never bought a 360 sooner is because nearly everyone I know who has one, they all suffered the RRoD. If mine dies, the warranty is voided (modified the firmware) so I can't send it to MS, I'm pitching it in the garbage. No way I'm going to be one of those people who modifies their 360 and ends up buying 4 or 5 of them.

I won't be modifying this one at all, everything will be legit. I have a 120gig hdd so I figure I could use that on the arcade (reformat it) and use the mem card for the banned console I have.

I just bought an Arcade to replace my banned console, and it's definitely better than any other chipset. The power supply is about half the size of the original 360's and uses a lot less power. The thing barely makes any noise, and even the exhaust isn't that warm.
As far as the RROD is concerned, SquareTrade puts out console failure rates every year I believe. The RROD rates for Xbox 360's bought in 2009 were around 1.7% or so. This report was put out in September, so those numbers may have gone up, but I doubt they went up by more than 1-2%.

If you're good at removing stickers, you didn't void anything. Send it to me ;) I've never had to reflow a jasper....yet.

Newb question:
I bought the new arcade 360, will NOT be modded. If I recover my gamertag through live that I used on my old console that got banned, will they ban my new one if I use that? I know its a newbish question but I just want to be sure I won't get this one banned.

1.7%???...think you have your decimal place off as this squaretrade report article says 17%- http://squaretradebuyerblog.typepad.com/...fail-rates.html

You shouldn't be banned with an unmodified console unless the reason for banning you has to deal with being a jackass on Live...etc. For your situation, I've never read about anyone getting banned with a new unmodified console and a recovered gamertag.
