I must be a complete idiot! I've watched the videos and tried, but I can't get it to work. I've put my drive in close mode, put my finger in the slot, and pull the power cable, wait few sec. And plug in, green light flashs, but when I go to read the key, it says Tray must be half open. I'm using jungleflasher with ixtreme. I'm also using the xbox as my power source and sata to my pc. you guys that seem more capable then me please help!

You need to give a little more info. What firmware version of the Lite-ON are you trying to dump? 74850C or 83850C.

If 83850C, what is the manufacturer date of the DVD drive?

sorry, model nuber-DG-16D2S and the man date is july 2008. I have ixtreme 1.6.1 firmware in the firmware folder. I keep getting bad serial data when trying to retrieve the key. Upon more reading,I think I need to do some soldering since I'm not using any probes or ck's. Is this true. .... Thankful for your response and any further info

reboot your pc - i had the same problems at first - wrestled with it for hours. figured out if i rebooted my pc after doing the half open, or doin half open as windows is booting up, then it works every time. play around with this, find the method that works for you. I can get it in vendor mode every time now.

good luck

Eh, there's no point in rebooting until you have a probe. Not like you will magically get the key without it.
