possible to retrieve cpu key?

ok long story short my mate bought an xbox with a 8 series v2 drive in it and he made a mess of it trying to get the key off the dvd drive.he burned a hole in the dvd drive mobo trying to solder an lt chip onto it :) and when he messed it up he threw away the drive and has since given me the case and mobo, its a jasper chipset. so here is my question would it be possible for me to j tag this mobo to get the key off the cpu and then flash that key to a new drive ?

ok will it ever be possible? so should i hang onto the mobo this jasper has never been turned on. he bought it to flash it and messed it up straight away so console has never been used

Turn it on and go into system info and see the 2.0.xxxxx which is you dash version. Wabashman said if it is 2.0.7371 or lower you can. If not just just use it to keep that door open. Or you could put any drive in it and use it for a DVD player. Your choice.

I dont think this will be JTAGable, the 8 series V2 Lite On was released in Oct 09 but the JTAG stopping dash update was out in July 09 so its prolly past the point where you will be able to retrieve the DVD key that way

I hope so but I personally doubt it. You never know though, look at the PS3 scene at the moment, we might be lucky.

i ll just leave it on top of the wardrobe so. its a pity.if he had of broght it to me in the first place this would never had happened.oh its his loss

Why was he trying to solder a chip into it? No chips required with the 360.
