I just bought this 360 from a local seller. I've had this same issue twice with two separate modded boxes, the first one had the same issue as this one. However the seller said he was able to play both xboxes fine for hours on end before I bought it and he had no issues whatsoever.
It works fine for about the first hour or so and then the fun begins. It restarts randomly. It'll turn off, turn back on and sit at the console screen like nothing happened. I am able to fully interact with it (dvd drive opens, can load game up) but then after about five minutes it'll restart again...and again and again until I get frustrated and just turn it off. It did it last night about ten times before I turned it off for the night and then this morning I wasn't able to test it out for a full hour but it had no problems the half hour I was on it.
I had the box on a table before and it was happening, so I moved it to the floor and its still happening. I also switched which outlet it was plugged into so it was no longer on the same one as my TV and it still happened so I have no clue what the issue may be.

I spoke with the guy who sold me the box, he said the inside (mobo and all that) are from a different box so the manufact date on the box isn't correct. How else can I tell what chipset it is? Also its a 150w power supply.
well unless its a new MOBO in the inside (doubt it) the problem is your PSU. it isnt putting out enough power to power the console. it will work for a little while as you stated, then get to hot, and shut itself down as a fail safe policy. is the console HDMI or non-hdmi? if its non, thats definitely the case as they were all 203 watt boards. if it is HDMI, then you should be able to tell by opening the console up and looking at the board. not sure how, but someone will tell ya im sure.

New everything on the inside, including motherboard. Came to the conclusion that it is a Jasper chip set thus requiring only 150 watts. Also realized that it could very well be the hard drive I was using causing the issue so I am running the box now without the hard drive and it seems to be doing fine. Going to try putting the hard drive back in after about a two hour test without it to see if the problem resurfaces.
