Hello,
I have a Lite On DG-16D2S 74850C. I'm runing Windows XP with on ,AMD 690G, ATI SB600 and have a VIA VT6421A. I removed the Via drivers.
I managae to erase the drive and when it was flashing on bank 3 or 4 with jungleflasher 1.66B the computer froze. And since then I have not manage to flash it.
When I try now, i just get status 0x80. I tried booting in DOS and usde L-O-ERASE.EXE [port] but i just get 0x80 and sometimes 0x7F when i turn it off and on.
I tried to turn drive on of several time. Changes SATA cable, change SATA port, Change to VIA card. removed all hdd and other CD/DVD-drives, but its stuck on 0x80.
Is the drive dead?

If you erased it then it might be bricked beyond fixing, but if you still have the key etc. then it might be fixable, but no guarantees. I'd wait for anther reply before giving up.

Go ahead and boot DosFlash 1.8. Your Lite-ON will be recognized by it's flash chip (MXIC or Winbond/NEX). Select the number corresponding to it. Then select W for write and type the name of your IX 1.6 firmware bin.

In JF, make sure you have the I/O port selected that your Lite-ON connected. You don't want to hit the write/erase button, you want to click the one that says Lite-ON Erase.

I'm pretty sure i have the right port selected in JF. And I have tried to swtich to other ports just in case. And I use Lite On Erase. It worked on time some days ago and then i think it started to flash the drive when the computer froze and i restarted it. Since then I never manage to erase it again. I just get status 0x80 when i power of and on fast.
Sometimes is get status 0x7F when i power off and on. then its stuck to that until i restart the computer and its back to 0x80.
Same when I use L-O-erase in dos i just get status 0x80.

When I had a problem like yours I booted into dos, ran L-O-eras a few times until it stopped reporting 0x80 and FF72 was reported.
I then read up on dosflash command line options and ran "dosflash w 9800 0 a0 2 0 4 c:\light.bin 0" and it forced it though. That command is specific to the ports on my computer so you may have to alter them for yours. It may be a route you want to look into.
It's probably not bricked it's quite hard to actually break the LiteOn through flashing just keep trying. Best of luck

I have been using L-O-eras so many times, power cycle the drive.
Before when I used JF in windows XP 32 and power cycle the drive windows would freze after 30 - 45 sec and then my monitor goes black. But that do not happens anymore..
Been trying for almost a week now.

I have the EXACT same problem as you. I have done many liteons and never had this problem till I tried Version 1.66. It died on me during the 4th memory bank write. I tried L-O-Erase at least a 100 times, no change. Dosflash says its erasing then it says erased, but a quick trip back into windows shows nothing changed. I think both of us finally killed a liteon :)
