Hi all

Not really a biggie as such ..... more of a niggle.

I fixed a rrod and flashed the sammy m25 last night and it does play a backed up games fine but whilst going through the motions of flashing it i noticed that the drive version was correctly id'd in the port properties and the fw dump said M25 but when it wanted to auto load the new fw it uploaded the M28 fw and said auoto spoof to M25 or something like that next to the fw type. i didn't really take much notice as it flashed fine and verified ok too.

i just wondered why it may of happened? i rechecked the fw pack and there seems to be only one fw file 'ix16-samsung.bin' in my fw folder?

anyone else seen this or is it normal? the pics in the 'tut' don't show this and i didn't think to grab a screen shot as it about 12:50 in the morning :)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that MS implemented firmguard in the MS28 firmware in an attempt to make it harder to hack. However it was used against MS in the hacked firmware to make it harder for them to detect the mod. So in current ixtreme revisions they've only created the ms28 firmware that can be spoofed as an ms25 so that you don't get an E65.
At least that's how I understood it.

XBOX Halo Ed. = DuoX2 w/250gb HD
Xbox 360 Red Elite 120GB HDD = no-stealth 1.6 & XBReboot V3 & 1TB usb hdd
PS2 Slim = freemcboot v1.8 - PSP Black Slim = 5.00m33-6
Wii = w/ Blue XCM ii-case, Wiikey2 & softmodded

oh ok copperkid,

thanks for that and it kinda makes sense if thats why, just confused me with the screenshots showing the M25 fw being 1.6 in the 'tut'

thanks :)

yeah it's a little strange but hey..... it works and the good ol sammy M25 is by far the easiest drive to work with. Although saying that once i put it back together i found that the drive wasn't ejecting :( it would if you lightly pushed the drive door in and upward.

Got a feeling the band drive band is on the way out so another delve into the xbox maybe required to clean / shrink the band :)

yeah, that sounds more like a physical issue, the band, vs some software/firmware issue.

yeah cheers guesswho

took the sammy apart and soaked the drive band in hot water, dried it off and put it back together again and it ejects fine now :)
