If i replace my modded disc drive with a brand new one will i be able to just put it in and its no longer modded?

you need to dump the key from your old drive. Are you replacing it with the same exact drive?

if its not a board problem then just swap the motherboard on the drive. anything like open tray or reading errors is mechanical and you can just put all the parts from the NEW drive onto the motherboard from the original broken drive. good luck

No, each xbox has a specific DVD key, each DVD drive has one contained within the drive firmware. Both the xbox & drive keys must match or you will not be able to load any games.
