I read a thread, as i know there are many, but apparently it was an ancient thread from the archives.. i'd like to know something though..
in the thread, it had a pic of a Hitatchi Drive next to a Samsung.
HOWEVER
when i google searched for those images to see which one ive got, it came up with a 3rd kind, called BENQ VAD6038
SO thats the one i have
i checked
i have a brand new 360 and the drive is clearly not shaped like the hitatchi or samsung, its the third kind, sooooooo is there yet ANOTHER update to the firmware process to work with this kind of drive?
(and yes,i am horribly noobish in the ways of the hardware/software trade)
PS: what if.. i had a windows game (one of the ones thats on both xbox and PC) and i used the firmware to read copied disks, could i copy the windows game, and thus run it on xbox?? that would be like christmas easter halloween and my birthday rolled into one if i could
The point of the follow up question is that my PC isnt powerful enough to run these new crazy 3D graphic-fantastic kinda games they got now, and my 360 could prolly do it without breaking a sweat
if you're wondering the game is The Witcher.. hardcore role playing monster killing, and its been sitting on my shelf collecting dust for 6 months now
When did you buy your 360? Your dvd drive is likely a liteon which is newer than the benq and comes in four different versions so far. Google "how to flash liteon tutorial" if you have a liteon. If your 360 was manufactured in May, you likely have a liteon that can't be flashed without soldering. You can find the manufacture date somewhere in system settings on the 360 dashboard. As for playing PC games on 360, can't be done.
ok ok, so i got it for Xmas.. it was sitting on my table for about half of december, so they bought it early Dec.
does that help?
prolly pretty dam new
but it has the smooth U shaped disk slot which looks like the BENQ.. no divits, or holes in it
Benq but take off the faceplate and look at the wires of the dvd drive. If they are colored yellow, you have a liteon. If they are colored white, its a benq.
