i know that sanding is involved for painting of the case/faceplate and what nots. But my question is more towards paper cut outs. and "gluing" them on and putting protective coat on it.

will i still need to sand to have the glue stick?
will i still need to sand to have the protective coat adhear?
what coat would work best for said method?

im sure id have to sand the areas in which im putting the coat on, but i was just curious and didnt want to waste time.

Instead of paper is it possible that you use laminate? You could print the design you want onto a piece of white laminate, it would stick to the case a lot better. If not then some sort of epoxy or plastic glue should work.

1 - no
2 - no, but if you are spraying a colour coat on then you should.
3 - acrylic lacquer clear coat would work best.

thanks for your response.

well, my real goal is to make it appear edgeless. as if it was natural, and more of a matte finish than a shine.

Post pix when your done. Can you post pix's on here? IDK. I just finished mine up last week. It looks t!ts. Metallic Blue flame cutout w/ plexiglass n blue LED's inside, all over black metallic base. I didnt bother much with sanding besides the jagged edges I got while dremmeling the designs into the case. Used acrylic laquer over a 2 coats of primer.

I like to make sexy time with non 79 Hitachi drives, yes?

Don't bother sanding it then and try to get a matte clear coat (acrylic lacquer of course). Laminate would be less noticable as the glue is evenly covered.
