Question regarding the new Nov 010 xboxlive update.......

So hey, I have a flashed xbox360 and havent updated my xbox360 to the new update. I dont want to find out the implications of doing so, the hard way..know what i mean.
Anyways whats the best method to take regarding this motherfucking update yo. Do i go back to the origional firmware then update and reflash? Thanks in advance. Peace.

Or you do not do your research.
if your flashed then when they send the ping command to your xbox and it comes back to them with spoofed/flashed f/w then you will get red flagged for the ban hammer day which was yesterday. So keep your xbox offline for a few weeks do not give it internet access what so ever.
As for the games you have to check if they have a stealth Security sector otherwise 360 will detect the bad game and you will get red flagged or banned depending on the situation of your profile/logs of what your up too.
I kept mine offline for 3 months during the 07 ban hammer and i was fine after that, things may of changed by now but most of the rules are mostly still the same.
start hanging out in p2pirc.net in the #fw channel there are people there who deal with these kinds of things and some may be happy to answer questions just the outcome of the help may vary at times.
These days i have a clean xbox, remember most games today cost over 100mill to make so buy the games if you play them a lot. Developers need to get paid so we can get more games, as a developer myself i support this which is why i buy my games. Having a huge stack of originals is a lot better then copied disk any day, also buying them on day release you get extra goodies that no downloaded game would get.
But dude really need to do your research if you want to keep your mod otherwise your going to get banned.

not trying to go off topic, but where did you hear or see that the ban hammer dropped yesterday? Please back this up with logs or point to a link where you saw this information. What type of software do you develop? I'm just curious. I respect all programmers, as I can barely program my TV remote lol.
As for the OP question, stay offline until LT+ is released. It's not 100% safe as any modified firmware, but you have better odds of not getting banned with the latest and greatest. Nobody can tell you how safe something is when it comes to LIVE. Only M$ knows, and they are tight-lipped. They're probably aiming to ban over 2 million consoles this year as they got over 1 million last year.

OK some bad info is in here and needs to be clarified.
You can update your 360 and do not have to flash back to stock. C4eva (the guy that makes the fw) analyzed the update and said there are no new checks in there so you can update with hacked fw installed and be fine. you can even keep playing old backups as long as they are stealthed correctly and be fine. as long as you have the newest fw and not an older ixtreme then you are good to go. and you can run retail games that are 1p2.5 on LT and be fine.
i dont know where the other guy got his info from but it isnt right.
what you cant do is play a new AP2.5 title on the new dash cause they wont boot and will flag your console.
and the ban hammer did not hit yesterday, if it did then it would be plastered all over these boards and a ton of people would be banned already.
If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

On a related note, and an answer I can't seem to find anywhere, what are the ramifications of getting the new dash on my banned, 1.51 360? Presumably my old, Wave 3 patched games will still work, but what about new stuff patched to 3 (specifically NFS in this instance)? Am I wrong altogether in presuming my old backups will be fine?

old backups will be fine. new games like nfs and such will not work unless you have a samsung drive or certain old hitachi. or wait for new fw on the way

Do you have a link to that chat log?
The latest info I could find from him said old games + updates activating ap2.5 was 'possible'.
I've been trying to decide whether to update a flashed console to kinect and keep playing old back-ups on Live. This is the first time I've read it's OK.

he is saying if they were to do updates for older games to activate ap2.5 LT+ would take care of it just as it will take care of the new games with ap2.5
the updates for older games would be a title update that would ask you to download so it will be obvious sign when that happens. esp for older games that dont get much support anymore and wouldnt be expecting an update for them.

Thanks for the clarification dude, although I did read that some people who downloaded the update found they couldn't play backups anylonger...A quick question about black ops, Ive been playing the campaign on my non updated xbox360, is it 2.5 protected aswell? Nice 1 peace!

and this is just speculation by me but i think the people having the most problems were probably using spoofed drives

ya spoofing is when you take a liteon or whatever type and you replace it with a different type like a benq. you have to use the original dvdkey of course to make it work and trick the 360 into thinking it is the original liteon or whatever brand drive.
this is mostly done when someone needs to replace a broken drive and they cant get the same type. but c4eva has said that this is no longer safe for live now that MS can see spoofed drives.
