Hi guys,
So I am an absolute noob, I have read the stickies and stuff and I am finding it hard to understand. The reason is because I don't know if my drive is even able to be flashed. Here are my questions.

1) I have the BENQ VAD6038 drive - can I flash it?
2) If so then what do I need? I have a pc with SATA cables, can I use that?
3) What firmware should I use?

Thanks guys, sorry for being annoying :P
If anyone could answers those and help point me in the direction of a tutorial for my particular drive then that would be awsome. Also if there is a way that I can buy a pre-flashed drive off ebay and just chuck it into my ELITE, can someone please point me to a tutorial for that.

Cheers,
Myles Blasonato.

Yes, it is flashable.

Some onboard SATA works. Only way to know is to try and read the firmware. If it doesn't work, you will need to get a VIA SATA card with a 6421 chipset.

iXtreme 1.6

I have created a BenQ tutorial. You can find it HERE.

No problem.

Any other questions, just ask. :)

Edit - You might want to double check your drive.

Take off the 360 faceplate. Look under the DVD bezel where it says XBOX 360. There should be a small hole and 2 wires.

Yellow = Lite-ON
White = BenQ
Red & Black = Samsung
Plastic piece = Hitachi

The Lite-ON is going to require some additional hardware to get the DVDkey.

Here is the tutorial for the Lite-ON.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152/...ncluded-785066/

You are going to need a probe/spear to get the DVDkey. Example = CK3 Pro connectivity kit with probe or Xtractor Pro with Spear.

Get Jungle Flasher up and running and the see if it can detect your Lite-ON (PLDS DG-16D2S).
