I haven't modded since ixtreme 1.4 was released. Is there a guide for the *latest* available firmware that will play new games? Is there a method that isn't getting banned from XBL?

Flashing with LT and stealth patching games with ABGX would be your best bet for XBL.

You can rip games to the harddrive but you still need the disk. The only way to play them without the disk is to JTAG the system

Ah, will my old Kreon drive work if I'm willing to burn discs? I'd rather not do any hardware mods.

also, I don't have the xbox yet, but does LT work with any kind of drive?

LT is currently only for lite-on and benq drives. Samsung and hitachi are in the works with no ETA.
