Hey guys,

I just need a quick hand with this, my friend is over atm and I'm trying to update his firmware, but his drive will not stay half-closed. I'm using a ck3 and I've tried powering off as it closes, pushing it closed, powering off and pushing it closed and nothing will work, it opens all the way when I power back on.

Can anyone tell me how to tell this drive to stay half open?

Thanks for the reply, dude, I hadn't done my research and I was overwhelmed trying to figure it out w/ my buddy waiting... I managed to unlock the drive and read the key, and then when I went for the firmware I realized that there hasn't been an ixtreme update for the hitachi since 1.51... Overall this was a really lame afternoon.

Just for clarification, I have to unlock the drive, restore stock firmware (is there a button for this in jungleflasher? where can I find the stock firmware?), spoof and flash hacked firmware and then I'm done?

After I realized that there wasn't an update for playing wave 4+5 for hitachi, I just put his drive back in, was I supposed to "lock" the drive again? Will his xbox still work considering I unlocked the drive and reinstalled it in that condition?

Thanks for the help, I get really nervous dealing with my friends' equipment.

iExtreme 1.51 for the Hitachi will play Wave 4 games, not sure about Wave 5 but I would assume so.

Follow the Jungle Flasher Tutorial Here for the correct instructions to flash your drive. (Ive always had more sucsess putting in mode b with SLAX)

Also, you wont need to flash back to stock firmware if your drive has not yet been flashed. If you do need to flash back to stock, the OFW is included with the CFW on xbins.

Open it and put back in mode B. There is a "restore to stock" option in JF for hitachis.

Thanks for the help, guys, my friend tested it and had no problems.

He bought the xbox off of some guy who had already modded it so I was anxiously trying to find the stock firmware for it. So if I'm using JF, am I looking for the "Restore Firmware" option?

I waas able to get the drive into ModeB using the button on my ck3. I unlocked it and read the key, but from what I'm reading what I should have done is unlock, restore stock firmware, read, spoof, and flash. Does that sound right?

Yes that's right. Just save it first. The restore stock is in the hitachi section.

Sorry, I should understand this statement, but to what are you referring when you say to save it? I should read the key before restoring the stock firmware so that I have the key still if there's any problems?
