Hi guys, been a while since I've posted here (everything has been going fine... until now!)
I was updating my friend's liteon softmod and managed to short out the drive, don't ask me how, I was having a bad week and was hasty and not nearly as careful as I should have been.
Long story short, I don't have his DVD key saved and it is irretrievable from the now defunct drive. His is a Falcon motherboard updated to the latest dash, and through a few hours of research I've decided to go with the R-JTAG ultimate kit. I'm pretty confident in my soldering and analytical skills so that shouldn't be a problem.
My main question is, once the system has been R-JTAGged will I be able to replace the broken liteon drive with a BenQ drive that I have lying around? Or will I have to purchase a same model liteon for it to work properly?
I believe you can change the drive by changing the OSIG on the nand to match the replacement drive. Are you wanting it to be xbox live safe with 2 separate profiles on dual nand?.If you are going to use live then once you have retrieved your key from the nand i would just use the same model drive. At least you don't run into update problems on retail. Also were you wanting a flashed Liteon to 3.0 as well as R-JTAG?
You're attempting a RGH (Reset Glitch Hack) to retrieve the DVD key? That means you're putting around 70 USD hardware into a system hardly worth that much. Just check ebay and buy a used Xbox 360 console only, you don't have to go through all that stress just to get the DVD key.
@richietea does the R-JTAG set include a dual boot chip? I was under the impression that it is single boot only.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Sorry mate should of said that it can be if you use the demon which as you know is an extra.Like you said if its just key retrieval then its as per what you said.
