I had an attempted flash gone bad never got to dump the key shorted out one of the holes and it does'nt respond this guy I was talking to says he on another forum and people say that its possible to read the key from the chip still or even replace the chip on a replacement drive lies or what?

What type of drive is it?

Depending on how bad the short was, you might be able to desolder the TSOP/SPI and read it in an external programmer.

Your other option is to JTAG the console and dump the NAND. If your dashboard version is 2.0.7371.0 or lower, you can retrieve the DVDkey that way.

this was my previous thread about this http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152/...ade_360-841246/ there is a picture there its a 93450 liteon and Im pretty sure it cant be jtagged it was manufactured in august 09 still have to confirm thAt.. dont have the console with me right now so cant check

Ok, so you actually soldered in a Lite Key then?

If the console was manufactured in August 2009, it won't be JTAGable.

attempted to I had it installed but it automatically went to vendor mode and wouldnt get out of it and the drive just kept opening then I tried to re-adjust and it bridged or something basically killed the drive as you can see do you know of anyone that could use an "external programmer" that could get my key for me? does'nt sound like something I can do haha

Just did some reading. The LiteOn doesn't have a normal flash chip that can be desoldered and read with an external programmer. You might try contacting syntaxerror329 over at xbox-scene (you'll need an account there to PM).

OK listen to this one I hooked up the power plug for my lite on dvd player upside down, my heart stopped when I saw the blue smoke of death come from my components. I knew it was beyond my scope so I sent it to a friend, he recoverd key put it on a new drive with latest firmware and it cost my $90 but I didn't have to buy a new xbox. If you want his websit I'll send it to you cause theres no advertising on forum right?
