OK I just finish this game and I thought it was great, rockstar really did their homework on this one, how bout you guys share you thoughts on it if you played it. Oh and if you haven't you need to.

Not even in the top 5 at this point. Just Cause 2 stomps it in every way. Mass Effect 2 destroys it.
RDR has soooo many bugs and glitches, a boring and obvious story, no reason to explore, zero replay value, the cover system is basic if that and worthless, and the horses control like cars.
If this game wasn't made by Rockstar, it be lucky to get 7's for reviews.

Oh come on seriously Just cause 2???? I know its a little fun to do thing that should be done but it still looks cheap and way to unrealistic for me.(And yes I do know that it wasnt made to be real lol)

Yeah I'll admit some of the storyline was a bit boring, I skipped a few. I think the game makers a putting a little to much into the story line in terms of acting and all of that stuff, games a starting to finish way tooo fast. Need a game like san andreas im sure its impossible to finish that game in 24hrs.

Hint:
Anytime the advertising commercials show nothing but the games cut-scenes and no gameplay, then that's a clue that not even the game's maker is confident 100% in the finished product.

by that little pieced of sound logic... you think inifinity ward and bungie had no confidence in mw2 or halo 3.
i guess it doesn't matter since they were both huge flops.

I take it that's sarcasm. Anyway CawkFour, there are exceptions to the rule. The two games you mentioned are in a class far beyond Red Dead. The Call of Duty games and Halo games will sell millions of copies even without a lick of advertising. So whether a game like that advertises gameplay or not, essentially means nothing to them. The masses know and anticipate those games. On the other hand Red Dead needs advertising in hopes of even sniffing Halo-like numbers.
If you omit gameplay from the ads it's for a reason:
- You don't need it because you'll sell a million anyway (Halo, Black Ops, Mario Galaxy 2, God of War 3, etc).
or
- The gameplay is iffy at best (Split Second, Red Dead) and you don't show iffy-ness to the public.
I don't even think Red Dead had a downloadable demo. Probably because if we downloaded the demo, we'd realize it was iffy at best even before it was released, hurting their sales even more.

I think its a brilliant game. I love the gameplay and the story. Rockstar rides on! Sure, people with no depth or intellect may find the story to be boring. For them I suggest MW2 where no thinking has to be done whatsoever in order to play. This game got 9.5 and 10 scores right across the board. To say Rockstar paid off the reviewers is simply retarded.

I haven't played online, but I thought the single player was pretty fun. I enjoyed it more than GTA IV.

Ok now that I am done laughing I figured I would give you the decency of a reply.
For starters, no RDR does not have a good story. They took as many cliches as they could (Yes even the ending was a copout on a good story) and stuffed them into one game. Sorry but I prefer my gameplay to be a BIT more interesting then just Ride from point A-B kill man C holding up person D hostage and then D turns on you and you kill C and D then ride from B back to A to tell guy E about it and then you and man E do missions together but man E turns on you and so on and so forth. That is literally RDR in a nutshell. The game lacks severe polish, the graphics leave something to be desired, the animation is way off, the game suffers from use of the euphoria engine (as in it doesn't put it to good use), the framerate drops are much too noticeable (when it rains comes to mind), the amount of glitches in the game is absurd, the A.I is still as dumb as ever, AND the game just isn't fun.

Seriously, though more people have told me this game is garbage than have said it was good. Every game appeals to someone somewhere. I'll check it out over the weekend and see for myself.

Saints row 2, Just cause 2, and san andreas are all much more fun than RDR.

i agree, game of the year. It needed more advertising because there are not many western games out there, and the ones that are suck. The hunting and animals are awesome. I love westerns and this game is just sick. What do you people want another run of the mill Call of Duty? The hunting in this game blows away any Cabela's game out there, that doesn't say much though but is still awesome.

i think the game is pretty bad ass. game of the year? probably not. if you're a sandbox fan... i don't know how you don't like this game. the gta series just got stale (beating up cops and stealing cars was cool cause it was different the first 2 times in the late 90's). i don't understand how people say just cause 2 is better but hey... different strokes for different folks.
i think if people don't like the game... they don't like the western setting.

I agree with you. I appreciated the change of scenery. I've never had interest in the western genre of really anything, but this game made it interesting for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Although it isn't without its flaws it's a decent game, and I'm glad I played it.

Yeah my thoughts as well I really like how they capture the west perfeectly. I'm not a western cowboy movie watcher but the it looked pretty good to me. With the actions that were going on in background and things like the gunsmith in the back when your looking for him LOL. Only thing I always wonder was why the animals never attacked either other. Seem like rockstar forgot that animals eat other animals.

Animals do attack other animals on Red Dead I've seen them do it (Xbox 360 version anyway)
