i havent done this before with a heat gun the problem im having one tutorial says lay board flat through out the process and dont move the board but on another he switches from back to front i thought this would be unsafe incase the solder drips.

I have used the heatgun method and it does work. Usually if it hasn't been xclamped is when I see it work. if you do use the heat gun do not touch the board. Heat top side and let it cool for at least 20 minutes. Then flip side. Not the best method as you can fry the board pretty easy. Should be done on a reflow station. PM me if you're interested in a true reflow.

can someone tell me i dont want to do the xclamp fix just the heat gun can i reuse the old screws and the 2 xclamps again in other words return it to its original condition.
