I bought the laser and replaced my old one w/o removing the protection... at the time I was unaware I needed to do that.

My laser worked for ten minutes then quit on me. I'm back to an open tray error. It was a short lived celebration..

Have I damaged anything?

I see the three points.. I know I'm suppose to remove the brigde? Is it just the middle one or all 3?

My other laser looks exactly the same so it's no help.. I want to make sure I do this rite.

What exactly do I do to these 3 solders? just remove all 3?

There are 3 small connection point under that glob of solder. Just heat up and iron and take off the glob. Once they are unbridged, you will see what I'm talking about.

I am using a liteon 7 series drive and a benq laser

The ebay store i bought from (bestusastore) said i would need to remove the anti static protection but ive been playing for 2 hours and have installed mw2 to my hardrive

played for 7 more hours.. no adverse effects from not removing antistatic... actually there was no glob of solder covering the 3 connectors... so i'm not sure if its protected or not, but it works..
