I've just replaced the laser in my samsung ms28 and before i was just getting clean disc error now after i ve replaced the laser i'm getting the open tray error.

I have replaced a HD63 laser with HD67 and read that shouldnt matter and should improve the reading of discs, i have also removed the stactic point.

Is there anything you need to do like reflash? or pot calibration?

Check the POT with a multimeter. Usually you shouldn't have to do this, but at times you do. Make the proper POT adjustment.

yeah its fine. there shouldnt be anyhting i need to do once ive changed it?

Gone back to my old laser and its reading some discs so it deffently the laser, is it possible that the HD67 isnt compatable with every drive that had a HD63?

You did remove the static point right?

You should always use the same laser type but can't see how that would matter. The BenQ can use a lite-on laser, etc. Did you try a POT cal?
