Replaced Laser still get Open Tray

Ok my legit xbox (never been flashed) had started to give me the open tray error at random times. Replaced the laser today and im still getting the open tray error, again at random times. I have removed the anti static solder point from the new laser and as it will read sometimes i knew it wasnt that.

Have also made sure that the laser isnt going too far back and getting stuck and this doesnt appear to be the case either.

Im stumped to what could be causing it. Anyone any ideas?

Forgot to say that the drive is a Lite-On 7 series.

did you put the screws back in the rail? i have seen that cause the same problem before.

Yep put them back exactly the way they came out. The white plastic bit on the gold coloured worm rail is also snug and is turning with no issues. Have even tried another laser and its still the same.

ok there are other causes, ribbon cable to the laser is bad, i would just swap it out, and if that does not fix it, then i would change the drive motor, but you say it works sometimes and sometimes it does not, i bet the laser ribbon cable is broke.

did you remove the static point on the new laser? Also: open the drive and connect it to your pc and eject the drive a few times. Is there laser sitting in the back or does it move from front to back fine? If it's stuck in the back, it's not the laser but the bracket it the back. That can be fixed with a washer.
