My flashed Xbox has a RROD. I'm planning on buying an XBOX Arcade tonight. Can I just install the BenQ drive from my older XBOX onto the new Jasper Xbox?
I'm assuming when I flash the XBOX it only flases the CD-ROM, right? Or does it flash the onboard XBOX unit at all?

Let me know if it'll work.
TIA
1: It's a DVD-ROM, not a CD-ROM.
2: Yes, it only flases the DVD-ROM only. It does not flash the console's motherboard.
3: Yes, you can install the BenQ drive from the older XBOX onto the new Jasper Xbox.
4: You have to extract the key from your BenQ (if you don't have it already), and then spoof it into the new Xbox (which will have a Lite-On).
By the way, spoofing IS flashing (just to a different drive). So if you have to flash anyway, why not just flash the new box, and sell or fix the RRoD'd box?
You honestly need to do a little research & reading before asking such a basic question. This question has been answered here many, many times.
This being said, no you can not simply take out your old 360 drive and place it in a new 360 console. It will not work because each 360 drive contains a key code that must match the key code programmed into the console's motherboard.
You must obtain the drive key from the new console's drive and flash your old drive with this information. Once the old drive is flashed with the new console's key THEN you can install it.
Now don't bother asking next, "how do I do this?" Research and read the Ultimate Sticky on this forum. Good Luck.
