Replacing my xbox360 LiteOn dg-16d2s

Im trying to replace a drive, I have one of the models above which is knackered fw 74850c. The problem is the knackered drive's tray wont open properly and the mechanisms inside aren't repairable.

Now I have replaced a hitachi drive before which was very easy. Basically i want to ask i know i have to extract the key and flash this to the new drive i dont want to flash hacked firmware to it. Just a simple switch.

Can i just simply re solder the old pcb board on the bugged drive to the new one to avoid flashing it all. As i've seen i need some sort of extra component and using com ports etc..

Or is there a way to siply use my via sata on my pc to extract and flash the key to the new blank drive?

The issue with the 74850c, what happened to it? If the PCB board is dead, you won't be able to extract the key.

ok well there is a fault with the pcb board. It basically throows the cd tray all way out very fast and it stays there. It doesn't respond to any eject button hits.

Not only that it constantly thinks the drive it open..

So it would seem to me i probably can't even read the key if the pcb board is buggered.

Anybody can offer some advice?
