Is the rrod mw2 safe to play today? Or is it best to wait untill abgx360 can check it?

from what i hear, the rrod rip is from the SE. if abgx patches it with regular edition does that throw a huge flag??? not sure, but i was concerned enough to not burn my rrod iso and just rent it at midnight.maybe run it through at level 0 first before just to see what it says.

abgx.net just lists scene releases as they're pre'd. It doesn't show if a game is stealth patched properly or not unless there's an entry in the "Bad CRC or Needs Fixing" column, which there rarely is.
If you want a database of verified games, you can find one here: -
http://www.abgx360.net/verified.php
As for scene releases in general, the amount that get nuked should show you that scene groups aren't 100% trustworthy. If they were, we wouldn't need abgx360 at all.

No. Someone may have patched it to wave 3 and re-uploaded it somewhere, but the untouched scene release is wave 4.

By "original" you mean the untouched RRoD scene release? After reading lots of posts about the current ban wave, I wouldn't call any backups safe to play, but you're probably safer to wait until it verifies.
Call_of_Duty_Modern_Warfare_2-XBOX360-DAGGER has just been released too, but it'll be nuked shortly for being a dupe.

There's no way for anyone to know that until it's in the database mate.
