i just bought a xbox 360 with rrod off someone but when i go online and try to request a repair it says the console is already registered, is there anyway of getting around that. im not sure if its still covered he said it was but i have to wait n see wat microsoft says. or should i just by a kit off ebay and try and fix it myself? is there any easy guides out there to use,i think id get confused how to put it back together myself.
call up ms 1-800-4-my-xbox and tell them you bought it off of your brother or something, if they dont do itkeep calling back everytime you will get a new person, and eventually someone will do it for ya!

Just call. I bought a red ring 360 on ebay for $30 and it was already registered. Just tell them you purchased it and had your friend register it for you because you didnt have internet connection or XBL account at the time. I got mine fixed that way.
check the manufactured date of the xbox on the back to see if you still have the 4year warranty, give ms a call that you have rrod and you got it as a gift from someone, they will ask you some other questions if you really have the rrod and finally ask for your address to send the box so you can ship it to them.
thats how i did it
