So samsung drive owners do not need to upgrade from 1.9 to 1.91, am I right? This is because samsung drives do not check for ap25?

I've got a friend that has 1.9 on his samsung, and it still plays Black Ops, NFS, Fable 3, etc.. I'm not saying that it's safe though. He might be flagged to be banned server side. It's probably better to flash 1.91 just to be safe.

I didn't even realize that they didn't make 1.91 for samsungs. I grabbed the lastest firmware packs & JF, but I haven't flashed any consoles yet. I haven't even unzipped the file lol. Thanks MK30 for clearing that up :)

i was just wondering if there was no 1.91 for samsungs specifically because samsungs dont need a fix for random ap2.5 checks

That appears to be correct assumption for the time being.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

i think my samsung drive is dead. it just stopped working one day, and now it won't get detected by jungleflasher. when i plug it into the computer via 6421, it takes multiple eject presses to eject the disk. same when it's plugged into the xbox 360. when a disk is put inside, it just says "reading" indefinitely.
i still have the samsung obw files, can i buy a new samsung drive off ebay, use my obw to put lite-on onto the new drive, and plug into 360?

i wrote onto it "successfully" with the obw, and lt 1.9+ firmwares, but it always ends up showing up with that ????????????????????????? and non-existant in jungleflasher
