Samsung ixtreme 1.6 stopped reading backups

Hi all,

Had the 360 with the iXtreme'd drive since xmas, all has been OK. A couple of months ago I upgraded to iXtreme 1.6 and all has been fine (except the tray has become a pain and fails to open sometimes).

All of a sudden, literally one day to the next, it's stopped reading backups. It still reads originals OK.

I've had a quick read on the forums and favourite seems to be a laser failure which requires a POT test. Can anyone either confirm or debunk this? Also, I couldn't find any instructions on a POT test for a Samsung 360 drive.

Yes it is a little harder for the xbox to read backups versus OG's so a pot cal would prolly solve your problem.

Just be careful dont over adjust when the guide says a fraction of the time it means it.

The drives original setting was 4.66. I changed it to 3.60 but it still didn't work. I changed it to 3.00 and it still doesn't work :(

It makes a strange noise too. What's the next move, a new drive?

If thats how you wanna handle it get you a nice shiny BenQ. Mine should be here in the next couple days. Its funny cause Im replacing a sammy with one it also. lol

Replace the laser on the Samsung or order a new drive (DX sells new Sammys for $27) or eBay a BenQ to spoof for around $25
