Samsung TS943 MS28 Drive Dead?

Hey all,
I have a drive that wont do anything, I thought it might be a bad flash but i've tried the bad flash recovery method and it wont see the drive, JF wont see the drive, pretty much every other method wont see it.
When connected to CK3 it wont eject.
I tried swapping the board into another drive but that didnt help either.
All my equipment is fine as did another ts943 ms28 and that worked fine.
Any ideas on how I can get the key? Anyone know someone in the UK that could do it for me?

I'd see if you can access the drive in DOS. If you can't get it to see the drive there via dosflash, then the drive is most likely dead.

I tried iPrep and xbm, that was in dos.
So no way likely to get the key?
The mobo kernel is 7371, so it could be jtaged to get the key, but I have no soldering experience. Anyone in the Uk who can help with that?

if you were able to get the key from the drive before it went kaput, then just buy a new drive and flash it with your key. but you probably should give some more information on what you were doing when it went dead.

The drive was dead when I acquired the console, so unfourtunately I dont know.

well you could try getting the same model of drive, and putting the original PCB into the new drive and see if that works. but i doubt it will. more than likely, the console is a waste and should just be thrown.
however, you should check to see if its still in warranty and just claim it as RROD.

I took out the board that has all the cables connections and put it into another drive but that didnt work, im presuming that was the PCB?
The console has dash version 7371, so its JTag hackable right? I was thinking that as my next port of call, just need to find someone UK based who can do it for me. I dont fancy learning to solder :P

yea that should be the PCB. but it has to be put into a drive that is exactly the same. so if its an ms28 you have to put it into an ms28.

Look for someone to desolder and read the tsop for you. It should be cheaper than someone doing the jtag/nand read.
Unless, of course, your intention is to set it up for homebrew anyhow.

Yeh it was the same drive Wabashman, so guess it is dead then.
I'll keep a look out betrick for that, although, ideally since the console can support homebrew, it would be nice to have homebrew on it.
Again, any UK modders who can do this message me :)
