I recall reading that the scene isn't sure when and if MS will begin using the SS version checks, as some 360 drive types can't actually read that info. Is there certain drives that can and can't, or can all 360 drive types (Benq, Sammy, Liteon) read this info, and perhaps they were speaking only of the Kreon drives?

I thought I read certain 360 drives couldn't access that data either, and that's why we're unsure when MS will start to actually use it.

If that's the case, it would be the BenQ as the one to get. My son's box has a BenQ in it, and a Blaster 360 attached, to allow flashing/ripping without opening the 360. I ripped Modern Warfare 2 with it, and it contains the SSv2.
