Hello all, I've just spent the better part of 6 hours trying to figure this out. I've been browsing this and other forums, but with no luck sadly. I've also tried using the search bar, and while I found similar problems, none seem to help me.
Now the problem:
I recently bought a SH-162C DVD drive in an external enclosure, and that combined with Xbox Backup Creator, was happily making backups of my games to my external hard drive. I use my Laptop for this, which runs on vista (sigh) and everything was great. Suddenly, however, for no reason I can find, the drive started to only sometimes recognise the games I put in it. It took a few attempts, but would eventually find the game, but not long enough that I could back it up.
I then tried ugrading the firmware (from 0.81 to 1.00) but now it has stopped working all together. Well, it will still read CD-roms and DVD movies, but will not recognise an XBOX 360 game.
The drive it connected via USB, and I have tried it in my PC running XP, but the same problem. I did have a virtual drive on both systems, but they were there at the beginning, and they are gone now. No difference.
If someone could help me, I would be very grateful. I have spent more hours than I'd like on this, and it is very frustrating, especially as it is a new purchase.
Sorry to bump this, but I'm not sure what else I can do.
I've tried setting the DMA again, but it's already set... it can read some games sometimes, but there's always one problem or another. The last problem was that upon unlocking the drive with XBC2.9, it said the disk was around 33gb in size, and wouldn't let me dump it.
