SH-D162D SB02 and Kreon???

OK, I just bought this drive, and to my dismay it is running SB02. I've tried flashing it with Kreon v1.00 anyway, even tried the -nocheck option, but I get the File Cmd Fail error. I even tried to downgrade to SB00, but got the same error. I am running the drive via a USB connector to my laptop. Is there some way to make this work? Thanks.

OK, answered my own question.

For anyone else with a similar issue, Don't use the Samsung flash utility as it will only error out. Use DosFlash32 and the Kreon v1.00 SB00 firmware. DosFlash32 v1.7 doesn't have USB DVD-ROM support, so I connected the drive to a regular IDE channel in my desktop. I erased the flash and wrote Kreon v1.00 SB00 and had no errors at all. I think this is because DosFlash32 doesn't care what you put on the drive. It doesn't check to ensure that the firmware you are replacing actually matches the hardware you are putting it on. In this instance this is a very good thing. I restarted my machine and I loaded up XBC and sure enough it said Kreon 1.00. Windows device manager still says TSSTcorp DVD-ROM SH-D162D, but it works fine. I just copied Fable: The Lost Chapters from XBOX 1 and burned with IMGBURN. I only used IMGBURN because I manually set the layer break at 1913776 (for XBOX 1 backups to be playable on XBOX 360), and I didn't know if XBC would do that by itself. My backup works perfectly on a DVD+R_DL in my XBOX 360.

So, will XBC automatically set layer breaks for both XBOX 1 and XBOX 360 games if I use it as the Burn Engine? Not that it's that hard to go back and manually set IMGBURN, but one less step is always a good!

Using XBC as a burn engine will give you more problems than it's worth. Crashed on me halfway through the burning process, which is a pain when you paid 1,25 euro for the media.
