I'm new to working on the 360, although I tricked out my original Xbox a couple years ago. The 360 is a different beast. I have a stock console I play online and a spare I'd like to mod for back-ups. It looks a little over my head so before I ship it out to be worked on I'm wondering:

1) Can I use 1 HDD between ther two consoles? I'll never be playing back-ups online but I'd still like to add the achievement points to my gamertag. Is it safe to do this or does the 360 somehow put a log on your HDD if you play a back-up?

2) Do I still have to stealth my back-ups even if I'm never playing online?

3) Am I allowed to ask if anyone would recommend a particular mod service? Are the services advertised here and on other xbox sites legit and trustworthy?

Thanks stealthdf for the quick reply! I checked the page and they are discussing switching a HDD between a banned and non-banned console, but backing up to page 68 I found the same question I asked answered. That's quite a long thread! But interesting to see how the ban last fall came down on people. :)

Still hoping for answers on stealthing discs. Did I read somewhere that they should be stealthed regardless of whether you plan to play online, because the console may not recognize the disc otherwise?

ah OK i read your OP to quick.

no you cant get banned for swapping HDD from a modded 360 to a non-modded 360. no worries there. what you are proposing is actually the best way to play backups and still enjoy live service as the 360 on live that isn't modded will never be at risk even if the HDD used is swapped to a modded 360 for the play of Backups.

if you aren't playing these backups online i don't think stealthing should be of any concern to you at all. as long as the hacked FW used allows for booting of nonstealthed games and such. some FW will not boot a game that isn't "safe" for online play

as far as modding services i dont think we can discuss that in the open here but im sure if some of the members see your post they may send you a Private message on that hopefully
