Hi,

Rather new 360 and console owner (yes, that's what that means - no, I'm not a teenager receiving his first console) - so a noob here, though I've read up on more recent events, so I know a little about being banned and corrupt files, etc.

It's rather complicated to frame my question (because there are so many factors that by the time I'm done framing it you'd need to read it again), so I'm going to just let you guys know what I want to do, and have you guys tell me if it's possible or I'm just SOL.

I've recently purchased a new Elite (so not banned). I want to maybe get a cheap banned 360, so I can play backups exclusively on it (like some of you do). Since a banned 360 would have a crippled HD that wouldn't store a full game (without paying for uncrippling, which I rather not do), I figured I'd use my great 120GB HD to store both legit and backup games (since, even if people would include their 20 or 60 gig HD with their sale, it'd store few games), and, of course, play on the appropriate console (backup game on HD => play on banned box, vice and versa).

Now, my dilemma is that I've heard that the way M$ stores information regarding your playing backups in the console itself, and not just on the HD or whatever, so, since I'm not going to be playing backups on my legit box, but will be playing backup on my banned box, would that information still be stored on the HD and transfer over when I play legit games on my unbanned box, and causing it to get banned? (it wouldn't not make sense for designers to include redundancies)

What about the corrupt data problem? I'm a bit fuzzy on if they corrupt your entire drive or just your profile (by modifying the NAND). The main thing is, my impression is they do the corrupting upon banning, since I'm going to be inserting my after-the-fact HD into the banned console, would the corrupting still be done (they could store a program on the console to just do that every time) or would my HD be safe? I saw on a forum where someone said that it'd be fine if you just maintain two separate profiles on the same HD, one for banned and another for unbanned - that wouldn't be a problem for me if the HD would stay mostly uncorrupted, and the unbanned console would stay unbanned.

Any ideas? Sorry if that's a lot of question I'm throwing out, but it is a lot of factors. I've searched on Google before I posted, but the threads I've seen are mostly to do with people's concern of their savegames, I'm rather more concerned about getting my non-banned console banned.

Thanks!
