New protection measures for slim:
Realtime checks of drive firmware and ram by dashboard - Rootkit technology used to pass several realtime check types. These checks on the drive are open ended so as to make replay of the answers impossible. Will pass any check on any part of the drive
Hardware flash modification check - The 1335 chip performs a hardware check on powerup for modified firmware. Chip fooled into thinking firmware is stock
Slim drive locked to read pressed game discs only - Enabled reading of DVD+R DL media for game discs
All features of current LT+ also included
- Optimised PFI code to accomodate AP25 SS data
- Defeats current AP25 protection
- Protects console from logging AP25 violation
- Full disc stealth used by default
- Waveless booting , disc images are assumed to be correct!
- Split-Vid used as default
If booting an AP25 title without AP25 SS game will not boot but will still be protected from logging AP25 violation on current dash 12625
If LT+ encounters an unknown AP25 challenge, game will not boot but console will still be protected from logging AP25 violation on current dash 12625
AP25 SS are region specific for region locked games

0225 here also, didnt crack it open till the firmware was released. Does anyone know if there is any truth that you will need more tools than a Via 6421A & a PC?

Sorry. I misread your post. I sure hope I don't have to buy anymore tools. lol. I just bought all of that stuff to flash my Fat Benq. the 360usb is only like $60. That's the price of a new game so I guess I can fork it out.

Im dying to open my slim to see what drive i have but every tut i have seen there have been bits of broken plastic flying everywhere so im not too confident lol.

The hardest part is getting the plastic pieces off of the sides. You just need a sturdy small flat head and a "slow hand". lol. I was a bit nervouse myself but all went well.

its simple,all i used was a small flat screw driver,and t10 for the drive screws,youtube has some good videos on opening a slim

Leave it out now Widowmaka, if he gives bad advice then by all means pull him on it but ATM he's just asking a question. He's obviously seen a video on youtube (where he was directed from here) and someone was using a opening tool.
@b1gh3ad, no, you dont need one. I opened my first last night without one. Just a T8 and 2 flathead screwdrivers (my t8 works as a t10 too for some reason)

Its a tiny bit harder as the case clips are not as easy accesable, you need a long phillips screw driver and a torch will come in handy
