Slim or Fat(JASPER)?

I need to choose between a slim and a fat X box. The things is I want to avoid the RROD at all costs. The slim one apparently is RROD proof. And the jasper is almost RROD proof.

But I want to flash my drive and I know that firmware for the slim is not out yet.

Should I just go in for the jasper or wait till the firmware comes out and get the slim?

What's the approx ETA for the slim firmware?

And Yes, I live in india and it is STILL possible to find a fat xbox on store shelves.
Also the slim is expensive here. Approx comes up to 350 bucks. I can get the jasper for around 300.

Help out please.

it is believed that the slim firmware will be out sometime around the release date of the USBPRO which is set for the 15th, i do not see this happening, but that is the rumor. if you can find a slim that was made before september 2010, i would strongly recommend that you buy that, i do not think you would be waiting much more than a month for the flash and you would not have to have any special hardware or do any trace cutting, if you buy a jasper you will most likely have to cut traces, and perform the MRA hack on it. For 50 dollars more i think you would be much more happier with the slim. also if you can find a 4GB model cheaper i can give you a link to get a 250HDD for around 50 dollars.
