So close to connecting to Live.... Help?

Ok well i recently bought an xbox and made an account here and im trying to connect to xbox live... im using a windows 2000 laptop and sharing my internet connection between my xbox and my laptop via ethernet cable since i dont think you can bridge connections in windows 2000 (well at least not to my knowledge)... i get this so far...




The error it gives me is that i have to change my MTU to a minimum of 1364... i did that and it sill didnt work... i have also tried 1365 and 1500...oh and buying a wireless network adapter is way too much for me right now...is there anyway i can fix this using this same setup with my laptop?

By sharing your internet connection, you do mean both your pc and xbox 360 are connected to a router, which is connected to a modem right?

no, he means that his laptop is connected to the routers internet, and the 360 gains its internet connection via the laptop.

at least thats what people usually mean when talking about ICS.

try pluging your xbox straight into your modem if it connects you know its your lap top.

have you looked into port fowarding 53,80,88,3074 ports? these are udp and tcp settings and can sometimes need doing to access the internet via your router, look to portforward.com to find your router make and model then follow the guides :)

There are two places you can change the MTU packet size, in the router and in windows.
