You can flash the new drives but I think you need to do a tad of soldering. Note done one myself yet. LT is the way to go.

Quite expensive that, you could by the stuff to do it yourself for half that price.
There is always the banana split method (joke). But no, you still have to flash the drive & for the new drives you need a bit of soldering

he said it's $30 to flash old 360, but new ones cost $60.
but i think it's not expensive at all since new games cost like $70 or $80 including tax, and this is just one time thing. lol.

That's assuming he has a PC capable of it. If not, paying someone can be much more sensible financially.

At least for now. When running modified firmware on the 360 over XBOX Live, you must assume you are always running a risk. As soon as you get comfortable, BAM!
Anyways, the $60 charge is indeed high for 30 minutes of work. You might look into what it takes to do your own firmware upgrades. If you continue to have someone mod it for you, make sure he is doing a FULL firmware dump of your LiteOn drive.

The full firmware dump contains unique laser calibration data that needs to be spoofed to LT. To dump the full firmware, you have to cut 2 traces and then use a tool such as the Vampire or Probe2 to dump the firmware. If you are good, you can solder to the drive.
