Hi Everyone.
So I just ordered an xbox yesterday with a 250GB drive and the kinect.
Luckily I live in a country where the store mods the xbox and gives you warranty on the box and MOD.
The guy in the store is waiting for the Ixtreme lt+ 2.0 version to come out.
Anyway So I have been reading the forum to understand how this all works.
Up until now I have only used a PC which seems a lot easier.

I just want to make sure I have some stuff clear before I start using it

1. I know to use Abgx360 for the ISOs but lets say I do it wrong, one of the ways LT protects me is showing the black screen, giving me 3 minutes to turn off the xbox before I get flagged. Is this correct?

2. Is there a way I can copy the games onto the xbox hard drive and play them from there instead of burning them onto DL discs?

3. The guy in the shop said the 2.0 version should be out in about 2 weeks.
Can anyone confirm this?

4. If my Box isn't connected to the web, then I don't have to worry about being banned or that the ap2.5 protocols will be activated. Is this correct?

5. Is it a good idea to keep the machine off the web? If not then why? (Besides xbox live which I won't be using anyway).

Thanks for the help.
I know you are probably sick of answering noobs but I just needed to everything straightened out in my head.

Here are the Answers that you have been looking for :

1. I know to use Abgx360 for the ISOs but lets say I do it wrong, one of the ways LT protects me is showing the black screen, giving me 3 minutes to turn off the xbox before I get flagged. Is this correct?

Ans : Abgx360 is used to stealth patch xbox Game Iso (backups) and update Ap2.5 replay sector for about 6 games : NFSHP , ACB , CODBO , CODMW2 , Fable3 and Halo Reach which have AP2.5 protection.Once updated you may have to burn the iso on DL Dvds but you must have the DVD Firmware modified in order to play backups of the xbox 360 game dvd.Currently LTPlus 1.9 is being used for the past 3-4 months.Prior to that LTPlus 1.1 and before that LTPlus 1.0.If you are on LTPlus 1.1 or 1.9 and Dash 12416 then 3 mins trick works but otherwise your xbox may get a flag for failed Ap2.5 challange. You can check that using xval2.0.

2. Is there a way I can copy the games onto the xbox hard drive and play them from there instead of burning them onto DL discs?

Ans: You can do it but you will still need to have the game dvd in the drive or you need to JTag the xbox.

3. The guy in the shop said the 2.0 version should be out in about 2 weeks.
Can anyone confirm this?

Ans: No ETA for release of LT 2.0.Most probably by September End after GOWs3 is launched. So sitback tight.

4. If my Box isn't connected to the web, then I don't have to worry about being banned or that the ap2.5 protocols will be activated. Is this correct?

Ans: If xbox is not connected to the web then you are safe from getting banned for the time being as MS has never performed offline banning of consoles.[But I beleive in future they may perform offline banning via updates on Game Disks for those who have modified consoles].As far as Ap2.5 Protected games (Currenly 6 of them) are concerned you may still flag you console if you are not using the latest dvd Firmware (LTPlus 1.1 or LTPLUS 1.9) and using an older version of Backup game DVD for the following games NFSHP , ACB , CODBO , CODMW2 , Fable3 and Halo Reach from dash 12416 onwards.

1 Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood 12416 ~10 1
2 Fable III 12416 ~10 2
3 Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 12416 ~10 2
4 Halo Reach 12625 ~10 1
5 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 12625 ~10 2
6 Call of Duty: Black Ops 12625 ~10 2

But if you can create a backup of these games using ImgBurn and patch them using abgx1.0.5 while being online and then reburn them on new DL Dvds then you should be safe.Plz note that the latest Dash 13599 reflashes the DVD firmware to stock and introduces some new AP2.5 challenges for which ABGx Database has not been updated with correct Ap2.5 info.So stay aloof from 13146 and 13599 Dash updates for the time being and be happy with LTPlus 1.9 or 1.1 whatever you have for your xbox with currently patched isos using Abgx if you want to play Ap2.5 protected games.

5. Is it a good idea to keep the machine off the web? If not then why? (Besides xbox live which I won't be using anyway).

Ans: Yes. Its a good idea to keep xbox disconnected from internet. If your xbox already has the optional media update then you can play movies in different formats via DVD or USB.Only for that you may like to go on Internet and join xbl otherwise there is no need to connect to the web.In case you need any SystemUpdate for xbox then download them using computer. Most of the time it might be in the Game Dvd itself.Format the USB to Fat32 and copy the SystemUpdate folder there .So far all the games that have been released do not have the system update that flashes the DVD Firmware viz.13xxx Series of Dash update.

One suggestion though . Start reading about modding the DVD firmware and watch tutorials on youtube. Most probably you may have to start doing it yourself one of these days. Also try to get original Stock firmware and the DVD Key for the DVD player of your xbox from the same place from where it was purchased. This could put you in a a very secure position.Make sure you backup your DVD Key and Origional Firmware in multiple places.Start by downloading Jungle Flasher Tutorial ; hackingjungle.net , ixtreme.net , jungleflasher.com/net or whatever and teamexecuter etc. may be few places to start off with.Hope this helps.

ALL The Best !

Write a book while you're at it. All these can be answered by using the search feature.

Hey.
Thanks for all your help.

Just 2 more quick questions.

1. I assume if I update the dashboard I have to remod the the XBOX. Am I right?
2. Assuming 1 is true I would think that updating the dash is probably best to do when
a. You know that the ixtreme version supports the new dash update.
b. Updating the console once every few months so you don't have to keep remoding it.

What would you recommend as far as updating the xbox firmware?

Thanks a lot for your help.

There was a time when I had same questions but it took me more than 3 months to find answers before I finally settled down to mod my console which now takes less than 5 minutes including opening the xbox flashing the drive and putting it altogether.I was suggested to search and I did that a lot.At that time I wished if someone could quickly provide me accurate answers.
Regarding dash update -> Check the version of Dash for your xbox and the Model (Phat or Slim) ?
Not all Dash Updates require Firmware Mods if you Drive already has Latest Custome Firmware. The need to mod arises when Dash update flashes DVD Firmware to Stock and Backups stop playing.
My suggestion would be to enjoy your backups .No need to update to latest dash if you don't plan to go on xbl.

Hi Sona.

Thanks for all your help.

I know it will be a slim.
But right now it's in the shop waiting for the 2.0 version before they send it to me.
If indeed 2.0 will only come out by the end of September then I think I will just have them put 1.9 on.

They will be updating the console before flashing the drive.
Since I don't have the box, I don't know what version is on the dash.
I think the store will update it to the latest version.
Luckily, here they flash the drive and give you a year warranty on the console and a 6 months warranty on the mod itself.
So I would only be flashing my own drive after a year of owning it so not to void the warranty.
I am watching youtube videos and reading about how flashing works, but I had some questions which I needed answers to just to sort things out in my head.

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Sona.

It doesnt really matter to me whether disassembling the box takes 5 or 10 minutes.
Im sure after I do it once or twice Ill get the hang of it.

Any last minute tips for modding a slim xbox 360 250GB (which based on www(.)360drives(.)com/list will likely have a Philips-LiteOn 16D4S drive?)

Thanks.

Thanks Again Sona.

By looking at those links plus the youtube video, I figure that I need to learn more about dealing with circuit boards.
Personally I work in Web software so dealing with hardware is not my area.

Thanks for the links. I'll go watch how they do it in the shop so I can see first hand how they do it.

Thanks for all your help.
I really appreciate you taking the time to explain to me what you have probably explained 100 times already to other people.

Take care.
