My Xbox 360 sometimes does not want to read my backups unless they are wave 3 games. It
will also read my official games, but the thing is, I have always had to reinsert my games at least once before I could even play the games. Now, that doesn't even work. For example, I would insert Super Street Fighter 4 (Wave 4), but then, I would get an error saying "open tray", so I hit the eject button, or the A button on my 360, either works, and the 360 spits the tray out. Without touching the disc, I press A again, or the eject tray button again, and the game goes back in. Then, it might read my game. Considering that I am using a Hitachi-LG drive, I wouldn't be able to play wave 4 games without an activator disc if I was on iXtreme, but I am. Since the thing just stops reading games out of nowhere, maybe I have a modchip?

You could have a worn laser. There is a way to adjust the resistance of the laser. If you google "XBox 360 POT Calibration V1.0 by Moda" you'll find details. Sometimes a weak laser symptom is playing original games fine, but having issues with back ups. But this is only my personal experience. Some will say, you need a new drive, or a new laser, and you may -- but I have had lots of luck adjusting the laser. You'll need an ohm meter.

Lite-On 74850, Ben-Q 64930, Hitachi 47DJ, Samsung MS28.
