Spear not changing blue

I purchased the connectivity kit with the spear and the first time I used it it worked flawlessly. However, I just got an xbox from the repair center with a liteon drive manufacured just in august, and the spear will not turn blue when it is in the r707 hole. When I touch the r708 or r706 hole (I cannot recall exactly which one) it turns blue and the drive ejects, so I'm pretty sure the spear is not defective. Does anyone have anything in mind?

Is it a 74850C or 83850C Lite-On drive?
Lite-On 83850C doesn't require the use of a spear. This could be the reason why r707 is not lighting the spear.

its the 83850C one. I don't know what it requires because I tried it both ways n neither worked. I guess I need to solder the points, but i don't even know if that would work. Any other ideas?

The 83850C is read from SATA only. There is no need to use the spear.
Take a look at this guide from Jungle Flasher HERE. Go to the Lite-On section and choose 83850C to get the directions on how to do it.
Or use this guide from Afterdawn HERE.
The steps are completely different between 83850C Lite-On and a 74850C Lite-On. So learn the difference before you screw up the drive.

exactly the reason people should READ BEFORE DOING ANYTHING. why not take the 10 minutes to read through a couple of guides, watch a video, and then flash it?? seems to make more sense than screwing up your drive just because you are lazy to do some research.

Wabashman get off my case. I conducted hours of searching regarding the issue. Don't badger me because I'm not the most adequate researcher, just answer my god dam question. And it's not like I crowed this forum everyday with questions that have already been answered. Give me a break. Anyways thanks to everyone else who has assisted me in this problem.

yeah, read up on the process, you don't want to mess it up, brick the drive because you were probing around and then have a brick for a console.

Look I did a fair share of research and hit a road block so I came here. I am well aware that you're supposed to do research before posting here. I have seen other posts of yours, Wabashman, criticizing others for doing so. Next time I will take a closer look at the stickies. Is this how you would treat somebody outside of After dawn? If so, you guys must find it pretty hard to develop healthy personal relationships with others.

I'll stick up for him here because I do the same exact thing as him.
The process is clearly outlined. It is the VERY FIRST THREAD for a reason. We tell people to search for a reason. We aren't going to explain things 150 times. We aren't here to spoon feed people. Had you done some of the research, then you would have already found your answer.
And to answer your other question, yes, this is how we treat all people, not just you. Myself, and probably the other senior guys, even regular members aren't going to want to be "friends" or help people who do absolutely no research or somehow miss the FIRST thread, the thread telling you to read it second. If you ask something covered in the very first thread, the one that says to read that thread second, then we're not going to help. It's not worth our time.
If there is someone who has a question based off of what they've read, i guarantee that the questions would get a much better reception and response from all members.
At this site, atleast specifically the 360 forum, but I think it's safe to say most of the whole forum itself, we accept/like/enjoy helping members who do some searching themselves and may have hit a roadblock and need something clarified, or maybe just had another question that might have come up. What we don't want are people expecting to be spoon fed information, users who ignore the tutorials our members spent time developing to help others (that are on the TOP OF THE FORUM).
Now you figure out which one you want to be....
(up to the 151st time of having to give this rant).

What's wrong with you? I told you that I did some research and hit a road block so I came here, and you completely turned it around including me in the group of people that don't do ANY research whatsoever, and saying that you guys are more than happy to assist people that hit a roadblock after doing some research. Yes, I'll admit that I should have referred to the stickies at the top after googling my problem for over an hour, but I forgot about it. I'm sorry I'm a human being and make mistakes.
The reason I don't post here often is because I always do the research and usually find an answer. In this case google didn't prevail and its been such a long time since I read the stickies that I completely forgot about them and didn't notice even though they are at the top of the page. My mistake
As I said before I am well aware that you are supposed to do a good amount of researching before asking a question here. I researched my problem on google and couldn't find anyone with a similar problem, or with similar ignorance, so I thought there just might be something wrong with my drive in particular, so I started a thread here. Afterdawn members used to be polite to me. I believe that this is an honest mistake for someone not as technically apt as a senior member and I feel completely insulted.

Let us know how it goes, if you are able to get it done or not just so we can make sure to help if need be.
I don't know anyone (nor have I had to) flash a newer liteon yet, so I'd be interested if you were able to do it fine with the guide from jungleflasher and/or through leerage's guide.

I thought I was going to be able to do my first 83850C last weekend because my brother bought a Pro.
But it still had a 74850C in it.

Thank you for understanding. I've had these feelings bottled up inside me for some time now towards situations like these on after dawn. I just felt insulted and didn't want to be spoken to in such a way with out being represented. Anyways I got jungle flasher to detect my drive, dumped the key and all that and flashed my drive successfully. Despite my frustrations thanks for helping me out, and there will be no way that I will post here again without looking at the stickies first.

I'll be interested in trying to flash them whenever I get my hands on one.
Although, it'll be interesting for me to figure out since I run windows 7 64 bit. (haven't checked the guides yet in case they have a section on how to do it). I'll read them when I get my hands on one.

I am running Windows 7 32-Bit. so I know Windows 7 should be fine but the 64-bit might be a problem.

I know loading portio in 64 bit doesn't work. I've talked with homesick and I know he mentioned he was running 64 bit and could use jungleflasher to flash other drives, but not the liteon.
So it'll be an interesting project to figure out.
