Spoofed Hitachi to Benq 1.51 wave 4

Hi

A friend came to me with a broken Benq drive, I had an old Hitachi kicking around and spoofed it to be the Benq. Installed 1.51 and every one was happy.
My question is:---- Will the new wave 4 games play on this Hitachi even though it is spoofed as a Benq or do I need to update the drive to the newest FW revision. (Hope not as I imagine this won't be as straight forward as it should).
