ok so i hacked my benq drive (easy) but my buddy had a phillips lite-on dvd drive (bullshit) what i was wondering is, could i get the Similar keys (both motherboard key and dvd key are same?(from buddies xbox)) and use an iextreme FW and an original lite-on FW, and spoof it as the motherboard key.
1. how do you get the key from the motherboard.
2. can u use that key to spoof firmware.
3. can i use a benq firmware to flash a lite-on that has been spoofed to that motherboard key.
4. is there any way to flash a lite-on dvd drive without using that probe bullshit.
p.s. i had got the lite-on dvd drive into vendor mode and erased it, and flashed it, but obviously it did not have the dvd key there so it did not work. so i can get it to flash and stuff, but i need the dvd key.
p.p.s. if some of this didnt make sense, ask, and i will try to answer.
i am a hack user....thanks to all the devs

You've pretty much ruined your buddy's box. You erased the drive key, that means the box only works as a DVD player from now on. Your drive key is no use for your buddy, the mainboard and the drive share the same unique key, not two different boxes. And yes, there is or was a possibility to get a key from the mainboard, but in your case it won't work, because you need massive soldering skills to desolder and resolder a NAND chip (as far as I remember) without causing severe damage and need the knowledge and hardware to read that chip out. It's been a while since I read about that, I know noone who actually tried this himself.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

The only way to get the key from the board is to jtag it. Jtagging can only be done on dashes 7371 or lower. Otherwise if you don't have a backup of they key, you have a nice door stop.

ok, well i assumed it was screwed. the main point of trying to hack it was to see if it would reset something because it was already fucked. this was more of an experiment. he is getting a new one, so we are going to go "Office Space Style" on it. ill post the video here after we do it. it shall be grand.
and on that note. F**K M$
although. i am not trying..ya know, you need to jtag it. fuck it. i am not into hardmodding things. softmod it so much simpler. and free. thanks!

If you are still able to read and write to the Lite-On, you now have a spare drive. Why are you going office space style on it? Send it to me, I'll send you one you can destroy.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Neither it's yours, so you should have put in some extra precaution.
And what he would do with that drive: Either use it on a box with a defective drive or as 0800 drive to rip games.

As it was mentioned, if the dash happened to be 7371 or lower then that 360 is still good. Odds are it has been updated by now, but you didn't mention if it actually were or not.
If it has the old dash it's worth a lot of money.
