Hey everyone, I just joined this site because after looking around at many sites this on looked the most helpful/knowledgeable. I am just starting to mess with my xbox 360 because it broke and is no longer under warranty. So far all I have done is messed with opening it up and removing easy pieces like the DVD Drive, Fan, etc. Now I want to start modding it, swapping the DVD drive to a BenQ and upgrading my HDD to a 120GB using [url=http://www.pcworld.com/article/150970/upgrade_your_xbox_360s_hard_drive_on_the_cheap.html][/url]. My problem is I only have a mac computer right now.
Now I want to get a PC so I can do all of this so my question is what semi-cheap PC can I get that will have the right SATA things and everything else so I can buy as little extra equipment as possible and what extra equipment would I need? Thanks!
With the PC that you will be purchasing, if it's onboard SATA is not compatible, you will need the VIA PCI SATA card with the 6421 chipset.
You will need to dump the firmware of your non-working drive and spoof the info to a new BenQ.
As for the 120gb upgrade, you will need the Western Digital 120gb BEVS. You'll be flashing the 120gb hddss.bin to fool the 360 into thinking it is the Fujitsu drive.

you seriously spent 55 bucks on that?? wow. it basically wont help you mod your console in anyway. about the only thing it will do is help you replace your hard drive. but then again, you could have got the same cables for about 10 bucks.

You can request one from M$ for free actually.. (from what I have heard)
no, the free ones are for transferring data from a 20 gig HD to the 120 elite HDs. the one this guy bought is for hooking it up to your PC (not what the MS free one does).
