Hey Guys,

I am quite confused by this "banhammer" & the new waves etc that have come out. I thought i had Hitachi Ixtreme 1.5 on my 360 but i have a made a backup of Modern Warfare 2 and confirmed it is stealthed with abgx360 V1.02 & it passed with flying colours. Put it in my 360 & it works with no problems at all without me using activate.iso. Does this mean i have 1.51 & not 1.5 as Modern Warfare 2 is a wave 4 game? I know that people arent sure if MS are banning people by being able to detect the modded FW, if its the games, or people playing early releases etc, but if iXtreme FW will only boot stealthed games then so long as my backup is stealthed it should boot regardless of what wave it is as iXtreme will only boot stealthed games? Why would i need different firmwares to play different Waves? I mean if i use activate.iso the game will play regardless of what FW is on the drive so as long as my game is stealthed it shouldnt matter what FW i have? Can someone explain this to me or am i getting my info confused? It is a backup that i made from the retail version i bought in the shop, do you think i will be safe on XBL? Thanks

The latest firmwares are designed so that the user can't accidentally boot an unstealthed or badly patched game. That means that they have strict compliance with whatever waves were around at the time. iXtreme 1.6 has strict compliance with wave 1-3 because there was no wave 4 when the firmware was created. iXtreme 1.61 has strict compliance with waves 1-4, so when wave 5 turns up, you'd need to use activate.iso again.

If you have any other firmware than iXtreme 1.61 and it's booting wave 4 games without activate.iso then it does not have strict compliance with the video waves. As long as your backups are good then you're fine. It's only an issue if you boot a bad rip.

That said, you're not safe on Live at all right now if your console is flashed. People that have taken all the right precautions have still been banned. I'm going to wait and see what iXtreme Lite Touch is like and whether that makes us any safer.

OK thanks, that clears things up! I was thinking a long the lines of it it doesnt know wave 4 for example it wouldnt boot it not about the strict compliance..!

iXtreme 1.51 is the lastest for Hitachi drives isnt it? 1.61 for Benq & Samsung? Is there 1.61 for LiteOn?

I never download any games, i buy them & create my own backup using Schtrom to do the rip, abgx360 1.02 to verify/stealth & XBC to burn them. If i get anything other than all green on abgx, i dont burn it! What would you say the chances are that my rips are good/valid?

Because i dont want to keep reflashing with every release of FW? I dont use XBL & i have never used activate.iso, i was just curious because in future i may want to so am trying to keep myself protected because the sky player looks good....
