Swap DVD-Roms between xboxs possible?

Hey -
I have an xbox with RROD - dont want to get it fixed a second time. I have another xbox (arcade version) I purchased. Can I put my already 1.6 iExtreme flashed DVD drive into that or will most not be compatible with other motherboards??? If it doesnt work... whats the best xboxs to mod that you dont have to solder any hardware with?

that will not work, you will have to get the key from your original and reflash the drive, all phat models are flashable without soldering.

yes you can do it as long as you have a dump of the ORIG FW from first drive. Spoof it to the new one.

In other words what peluynati and modking are getting at is that the drive's key and the motherboard's keys must match, or games will not boot. Only DVDs & CDs will boot.
- The key is gotten from the original firmware of the drive.
- That key is spoofed into the iXtreme firmware.
- Then that iXtreme firmware is flashed back to the drive.
- Now, you have on your drive, an iXrteme firmware containing the key from your original firmware which still matches the key in your motherboard.

So, in other words you have to dump the key from the drive of the working box and flash it to the drive of the defective box, meaning you have to get two drives in vendor mode and all this and it won't be LIVE safe at all. If you already have the drive of your working box in vendor mode it would be way easier to just flash that drive.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Alright so to make sure I understand:
I have an arcade (working xbox)
I have a broken normal xbox with the flashed drive that used to work until I got RROD
With arcade versions, no soldering or extra hardware is required right? I assume I should just do this then:
Extract the key from arcade (working xbox)----remove drive---switch with the dvd-rom from the RROD xbox---and spoof that cd-rom with the key I just extracted and I should be good to go right? The drive in the broken xbox is a Toshiba - Samsung TS-H943A MS25 that I flashed with 1.6 on 9-17-10

No, that's what you shouldn't do. Just flash the drive of the working Xbox 360 with LT 1.91.

The drive in the working xbox is the one with two yellow cables when looking at the front of the drive. Doesnt that one require soldering or something? Thought I read that this drive was the hard one to do....

Yellow wires means it's a Lite-On. Some probing or trace cutting/re-soldering is required.

Just do the PMT hack, no need for cutting wires or soldering. You just need a sewing needle and a cable to do it.

Not without hacking the other drive aswell, no.
