My Liteon (dg-16d2s) Just crapped out on me and i was wondering if i could just buy another one of the same type, spoof it, and put in my 360.

I have found many tutorials on how to spoof between two different model drives, from lite on to sammy for example, but not how to swap two of the same one. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I know how to flash fine, but i have never swapped out a drive. Thanks

Same process as when you flash your drive. Load the dummy.bin or orig.bin and then load iX. Spoof and flash.

Am I loading in the data I have saved for my old drive into the new one or am I just going to flash this one with it's own dummy/key etc and hook it up to my 360?

Thanks.

Load dummy.bin or orig.bin into Source.
Load iX or Stock firmware into Target (make sure you are loading correct iX or Stock firmware [example= 74850c, 83850c, 83850c v2, or 93450c]).
Click spoof source to target.
Go over to MTKFlash tab.
Click LiteOn Erase.
Click OK to 2 window popups.
When seeing dots go across, off/on on your connectivity switch or pull power plug from DVD drive for 1 second then plug back in.
Should get Status 0x72 with good flash chip properties (MXIC or Windbond/NEX).
Write the firmware.
Outro/ATA Reset.

No way to tell without trying to dump the v1 way first :(, leerage told me earlier today that the ones manufactured August 2009 could be either :(

Remove the 4 screws from the drive and open it. Remove the 2 screws holding the drive's circuit board. Look on the underside of the circuit board. Every 83850c V2 I've done has a sticker on the underside of the circuit board identifying it as such.
