I'm am looking to buy a modem that is really good for Xbox Live gaming, and that doesn't randomly drop out, price range up to $400AUS,($364.920USD)

$400 for a modem? Why on earth would you spend that much for JUST a modem? Unless of course it was MONSTER branded.. I think what you are looking for is a ROUTER not a MODEM by the way.

Get something by linksys. Anything will do really.

not sure what you mean by modem.
you probably meant router.

pretty much anything could be flashed dd-wrt or tomato is good router.(most of them)

i personally used both firmware for long time of period.
for gaming/performance/downloads... I suggest you go for tomato.

LINKSYS WRT54GL

for modem(.. not sure why)
Motorola SURFboard SB51xx/SB61xx widely known to be good modem.

If you need to use your router as a wifi access point for your xbox, then follow coast9981's advice.

If you are wanting one to connect to the Internet & your xbox, then I would also recommend linksys, they are decents bits of kit and are basically rebranded cisco's.
