Not necessarily true. On this forum the "cheap" topic is usually about people complaining that their games won't load. And more times than not, it's because of cheap media.
I could care less if you used "Memorex", "TuffDisc", or "Billy Bob's BestEver DVDs in Tarnation". But if you have a problem with them, why gripe about it when everyone told you to use Verbatim in the first place? That is the irritating part.

I know how you feel. I have the ps3 version and I was thinking of getting the 360 version to school some of my friends on XBL.

A lot of things can make a disc not work. Could be a bad image, bad burner, bad flash, or just that 360 drive won't read anything else.
Of the nearly two dozen 360s I've personally been invovled with, only one HAD to use Verbs and that was a old refurb Hitachi.
Yes, asking people to change their media is the quickest way to test but not the best. Nobody wants to troubleshoot anymore, they just want a quick fix. So let them QQ all they want, don't affect you.

I agree with this as well

Those comments if they are credible are based on theory rather than fact. There are many quality non-verbatim brands out there. I can understand how memorex sucks but I use sony branded disks and I never had any issues with them. The whole verbatim crap is just based on nothing more than paranoia.

I actually read some reviews on some cheaper dvdrs that claim to be just as good (works great, no costers, etc). Forgot the names of some but they're out there...just far and few between.

Heck of a difference. Either way, if you want to play games online, buy retail. Don't QQ at others.

59.97 for 50 discs. a little over 1.20 per disc.

even cheaper at 1.19 per disc.

well if you cant afford it then perhaps you shouldnt have bought the 360 to begin with. if you are not capable of affording 60 dollars for 3000 dollars worth of games, then you should have used the original 300-400 dollars for the console for something you/your family truly needed. not something that is only going to cost you money. and i guarantee you that 95% of those that cannot afford to spend the extra money to get verbs are those that will continue to buy xbox live subscriptions.

Wow. If that $.57 to $1.06 is too expensive for you then maybe you shouldn't have bought a 360. And I won't even bother mentioning that Verbs can be found cheaper than what you've listed.

I don't have a Sams club nor do I care to sign up for a membership to something like that.
And even for the Amazon, I rather get 20 more discs for the same price.
To me, has nothing to do with being able to afford it. I just don't see the need to spend more money for a disc that does the same thing as a cheaper disc. And the comparison to Live is apples to oranges. Discs we have choices while Live has one option. So again, don't have to be about who is cheap as we are all cheap here, it's about who thinks it's worth it or not.
I assume you tell people to not buy the generic drugs or food at stores, am I right?

i dont buy drugs (medication type, as this is what im sure you are referring to) as they are for pansies. as for food, i buy whats on sale, if it ends up being the cheap crap, so be it. but i know my body handles cheap food better than my 360 would handle crap discs. and if you cant afford to spend an extra 20-30 cents per disc, then you cant afford to spend money on live, so its the same concept.
also, surely you have to know someone that has a sams club membership. or they have 1 day free passes every other month.

It's amazing how some people criticize something that they'll be getting for free, and making MUCH use of.
Um, check yourself kid. I HAVE made financial contributions to at least Team Jungle. If C4E had a PayPal link, I'd send him some money as well. On the flip side of that, he'd probably be busted by the MS nazi's but so be it.

Gotcha. And if you've had good luck with the cheap brands, good. It's just that there's sooo many "backup plays as dvd" and "xx coasters so far" and "is my drive dead" threads. Sure, not every problem is related to crap media, but most of the time it does boil down to it.

So lets back up. There was always the talk that Verb were better so that mean better security. Well, far as I know people who use every type of media have been banned. Sony, TDK, Ritek, Memorex, generic, ect ect all got banned. Obviously impossible to know which got banned more but the point is, all that talk ended up being just that, talk.
Your mad because the cracker said they gotta do more tests because they found that non-Verb discs can cause other results. So what? So you have to wait a bit longer, so what? Do you want to play on Live now, do you want to play Dragon Age now, go buy it.
Far as I can see, you are mad that something you get for free has been delayed a short time and yet you call other people cheap.

Meh. Doesn't matter how many different forums you visit. There'll alway be those who are ungrateful if their needs aren't catered to right away.
The modded firmware has really spoiled a lot of people.

Eh, might be just me but I rarely believe anything I see on forums such as this. Not everyone is going to admit that they messed up something. Say they forgot to send the close command before putting it back in the 360 and finally they figure it out, you think 100% will say the truth or just go with the flow and say yeah it was the media!
I'm a troubleshooter at heart so I just look at things differently.

No, I'm not a gene0915 but really, how hard is it to be overly-critical & ungrateful? Apparently, not very hard at all.
And by the way, for those who will never connect to Live, there are firmwares already out there. LT is for those who have the patience to wait on a firmware that combats M$'s recent actions, better than previous firmwares.
My biggest complaint is that I hate HATE HATE people that lie. Everyone knows that these are pure BS excuses as to why the LT firmware is delayed yet again. I got news for you, the next twit update from them will be "ok, cheap crappy media support built in and working, but we needs to do a LOT of testing because there are LOTS of makers of crappy dual layer media and we need to make 100% sure LT supports the grocery store brand of DL media that everyone uses." They should just straight up say, "We're delaying LT because we're trying to figure out a way to make some money on this". I could live with that because it's the truth. I love C4E's work and admire his talnet. Unlike you, I can't stand being lied to.
It's sad (and other have pointed this out) but if C4E starts to solicit donations for his work (which I think he deserves), MS might go after him through the courts. If he wants to insulate himself from any legal actions, yes, he needs to take the time and partner up with the Chinese mafia or something and work out a system where he can get some money but not be directly tied to things. I know I can use the activation.iso but it's a pain in the butt doing so. Fed up with dumb excuses, I'm using another one of his awesome creations...... Benq 1.41 non-stealth fw. No harm no foul.
C4E/Teamjungle, love your work and admire everything you do for us but please, enough with the BS excuses. Be up front.

for all of you cheap people that feel verbs are a waste of money. thanks....maybe this will show you why you should spend the extra 20 cents per disc. at least us wiser folks wouldnt have to wait longer on new firmware.
Man, what a load of shit. I'm soooooooooooooo glad I ordered a Benq off ebay recently. When it arrives, I'm spoofing my Liteon with it and will flash the Benq to 1.41 Non-stealth and play wave 4/5/6/7/8 games with no problems. After reading that little expose' about all the behind the scene crap that has went on, I think everyone else should do the same before the prices on BenQ drives skyrocket.
Of course, if you REALLY want to go on-line with your 360 (and pray you don't get banned) I guess you're at C4E's mercy waiting for LT and watching excuse after excuse roll by.

Saving that ~$.20 per disc will pay for that Benq drive after what... 200-300 discs. Boy, you showed that lazy excuse-making C4E.
Um no, buying a BenQ will save me from the hassle of having to use the activation.iso disc every time I want to play a game on the 360. I'm totally cool with paying a whopping $20 for that convenience. If money is tight yo, I'll spot ya an Andy Jackson.
When you have a job, you can afford to splurge on a budget busting $20 drive.

It appears that, without further explaining yourself, your op came across as being ungrateful. That's why some are being alittle harsh towards you. Sure, you're right. None of us like being lied to. But on the web you'll just have to take it with a grain of salt. You'll see a lot of it with the anonymity of being behind a monitor.
Not that it matters now if you've already received the Benq, but with a Samsung drive you could have flashed the old Xtreme and then played Xbox games from dvd5's.

if you can't afford the games at full retail, don't even bother flashing your system. you should already be buying them BEFORE making backups. stop being cheap and taking the money that game designers put their hard work into.
frankly, i'm happy that team jungle wants people to use verbs. it's quality over quantity.
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
