i'm not new to the hacking scene but i've been away for awhile and cant seem to find any information on the new protection, i just want to know whats changed?

i take it tjag is a form of running games from a hard drive, but whats the new security about? whats xgd2/xgd3 is this a new protection on the disks and what do i need to do to play them?

i'm running a BenQ on 1.91 and its not banned but i haven't taken it online yet, i used to just get the iso, run xbg360 and then burn the game.

any help would be appreciated.

XGD2 and XGD3 are the disc types that Xbox 360 games are on. XGD3 has just appeared, although we've known it was coming for a while, so for now there's no way to backup XGD3 games and play them unless you've got a JTAG.

AP2.5 is what you have to be careful of with a flashed console. I don't know if you know about that, but it's a type of protection that only affects certain games (6 games at the moment) and if your game isn't patched 100% correctly, you can flag your console for a ban just by trying to boot it, even offline.

With a flashed console, as long as your games (especially the AP2.5 ones) are all fully patched with abgx360 and your custom firmware is up to date, you'll be as safe as you can be. Always be wary of dashboard updates and don't install one until you've checked on forums, cos they can add new anti-piracy protection and update the AP2.5 tables, so you often have to rip, patch and re-burn your AP2.5 games. For XGD3 games, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I think people like c4eva will probably find a way to rip, burn and play them, but that's just me guessing and if it does happen, I have no idea when that will be.

Thanks for the reply, no i didnt know about AP2.5 and i actually have 3 of the games but i beleive i put them through xbg360 before i burnt them. what do the ap2.5 games do? (bare in mind i dont have m 360 online yet)

Is there an update then that will stop my 360 reading backups? and how would i get around them?

AP2.5 uses new challenge/response tests to try and detect whether you're playing a copied game. Because MS can update this when they update the dashboard, that's why you also have to sometimes rip, patch and re-burn your games (the AP2.5 ones, not all of them).

If you try and boot an AP2.5 game that's not patched, is badly patched, or is patched with out of date data, then your console will fail the challenge/response tests. What happens then is that your console is instantly flagged - it doesn't matter if you're online or offline. Once it's flagged, your 360 is marked for a ban. Also, the flagged console can then no longer sign data in a way that other consoles can read it, so for example, if you try and use your gamertag or game saves on a different console they will just show up as corrupt data.

You can tell if your 360 has been flagged due to AP2.5 by using a little program called XVal 2.0. Google it and you'll find it. If you use it and it says "AP25 challenge failed", then you've already flagged your console. If it comes back clean, you're OK, but just be careful with AP2.5 titles in future.

There is a 360 dashboard update that will stop your console from reading backups, but only because the update also flashes your DVD drive to a new stock firmware. You can still re-flash it back to LT+ 1.91 afterwards, but the best method of updating the dashboard is this: -

1. Make sure the dash is safe by doing some research online
2. Flash your console back to stock firmware
3. Update the dashboard to the latest
4. Flash your console with the latest custom firmware
5. Don't boot any AP2.5 games unless you're 100% sure they're good

But as time goes on, there's more unknowns. There's another new dashboard design coming to the 360 in the next couple of months and that may (and almost certainly will) contain further anti-piracy protection. Also, there's the XGD3 discs that currently can't be ripped or played, so that'll require new ripping software and new custom firmware - assuming it's even possible to do that.

I did XVal2.0 and it came back "Secdata is Clean" so thats good, can i run my back up disks through xbgx360 to make sure there ok and if there not rip them again and then pacth them?

would you recommend the ixtreme 1.92 update and how would i go about it, some people are saying you should go back to stock, update the 360 then put 1.92 on ?

Yes. When you fire up abgx360, there's a drop-down list at the top underneath where it says "Input". Just select "Burned DVD" from that list. If the game needs patching, just use Imgburn in read mode to create an ISO, run that through abgx360 to patch it, then re-burn it.

If you're only updating the firmware, you don't need to flash back to stock first. If you need to update the 360's dashboard, flash back to stock, update the dashboard, then re-flash with the latest LT+. 1.92 is only for 360 slims though, so if you're using an older "fat" model then you already have the latest LT+.

abgx360 isn't a reliable method, because games can only be detected as AP2.5 after they've been added to the abgx360 database. abgx360 can detect if a game has an AP2.5 flag, but not all AP2.5 games have that flag.

You can tell which games are AP2.5 though. A list of media IDs for games is stored in a table in the dashboard. Here's a list of all the media IDs from the table that's in the current dashboard (13599): -

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key...cF9JSWs3VmhBNXc

You can see the media ID of a game with abgx360, then you can look at that table to see if it's listed. If it is, then the game is AP2.5. If it's not, then it's not.

When a new dashboard comes out it usually updates the AP2.5 table, so new games will probably be added as time goes on. Also, AP2.5 can be added to existing games via a dashboard update too, so don't assume that any previously burned non-AP2.5 game is safe.

Reason i asked is because i "altered" my 360 before and was banned in that fall 09 wave i believe. i'm ready to "alter" again just want to make sure i'm as educated as possible to put me in the best case scenario to remain undetected.

Any thoughts or advice in relation to the status of "altering" today?

I've said it a few times already, but: -

1. Flash back to stock firmware
2. Update the dashboard
3. Flash with the latest LT+ for your drive
4. Don't boot any known AP2.5 games until you've checked them with abgx360
5. Make sure all of your games are patched correctly using abgx360

Obviously, if your 360 is already on the latest dashboard and hasn't been flashed before, then you just need to do steps 3, 4 and 5.

A lot of people get caught out cos they don't do step 4, so they update the dashboard, but they don't realise that that also updates the AP2.5 table, then they try and boot an AP2.5 game that hasn't been patched with the latest AP2.5 data and that immediately flags their console.
