Upgrading From LT to LT+ Question

Okay, after searching the forums I haven't found a thread that clearly addresses my problem. I have a LiteOn drive already on LT firmware. My desktop crashed and had to re-install windows and lost all the firmware data. Can I still update the drive with the LT data or do I have to do the probe trick to get the keys?

Actually if you don't have the keys, LT disables the probe method so you have to do one of the solder methods. I prefer this one: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=698256
Personally though, I use a razor to cut the traces so you don't even need to use wire to reconnect the trace, just solder. Use some soldering paste (flux), a multimeter with continuity test and a tip that's in good shape and it's no problem

Thanks for the response. Is cutting traces and soldering wires the only way I can update the firmware?

If you had the keys you could just erase and flash. but you need the keys first.

so yea, if you didn't save the keys you need to cut and solder it. theres more then 1 method to do it now but still requires cuting. like the LT switch.

sucks when this happens. thats why i got my keys copied like 4 places.

crap haha. Thanks for the response. I'm just confused because I read somewhere a user, with my same problem, just hooked his drive up to his computer, hit get key from dummyDB and it worked. But, I'm reluctant to try that because I've never heard of that before

I believe the dummy database is stored in your registry so if you reinstalled windows it's gone too
